Reflection of Artifact 2

This artifact is basically my preliminary write up for my research project that I will be writing for the course HMPD 6204 Research Project Design. Several revisions have been done based on this artifact mainly to provide a better foundation of my research project in terms of the objectives of my study and research questions.

Situation
The situation that I planned to focus on in my research project concerns the effective implementation of Web 2.0 tools in English language learning. This is part and parcel of my interest that I have developed based on Artifact 1. So, Artifact 1 some sort of sets the tone of my research project in a sense. Another artifact that caught my eye is Personal Learning Environments (PLE). This concept, in general, revolves around autonomous learners developing their knowledge sphere by interacting and collaborating using various Web 2.0 tools.

Task
The task for this course is to identify an area of focus for research that is related to the MIDT programme. In this case, I have chosen to research on analysing Web 2.0 tools that forms a Personalised Learning Environment (PLE) for effective English language learning. This complements the two subject matter of interest that I have developed previously. Hence, the the title of my research project is "A Comparative Analysis of Web 2.0 Personalised Learning Environment (PLE) Tools for Effective English Language Learning".

Action
I went on to research more about the use of Web 2.0 tools in education i.e., particularly in English language learning. I focused my research on five Web 2.0 tools i.e., blogs, wikis, digital storytelling, podcasting and social bookmarking.

Result
While researching, I found various articles that build upon the concept of using Web 2.0 tools in education particularly articles concerning the concept of e-learning, technology and education. Click on the following links to view the articles/slides that I found useful for Artifact 2.

Learnt
As a result of this experience, I am able reflect and research on the basic pedagogy behind learning using Web 2.0 tools that will help enhance my understanding of the basis behind my research project. More importantly, this experience will be useful when I write the relevant chapters for my research project in the course HMPD 6204 Research Project Design.
